Early Winter

Since winter will last for another 6 months, we thought we would post some photos of early winter.

Roses that Pat gave Sara basking in the early winter sun shining through the window.

At the beginning of December, we took a trip all the way up the North Shore.

The sawtooth mountains are a scenic backdrop for the Grand Marais range light.

and from a lookout up the hill

We continued all the way up the Canadian border town of Grand Portage

Pat as his usual sweet self - throwing snowballs!

High Falls, the tallest waterfall in Minnesota, is along the Pigeon River, which is the border between the U.S. and Canada.

Before we knew it, it was Christmas

Our real Christmas tree - a first for Sara!

Not too much snow had fallen in Duluth by Christmas, so we were happy to see some snow in the UP on the way to Rogers City

When we returned to Duluth, a few inches of snow had fallen

In January, Sara went to Houghton to visit her brother Andy

A trip up the hill from Hancock yields a nice view of Michigan Tech with the Huron Mountains in the background

Besides sightseeing around Houghton and Hancock, Sara and Andy went hiking at Hungarian Falls in Tamarack

The end to a fun hike and a fun trip
