Mt. McKinley

We hitched a ride on one of the park buses back to Wonder lake at the conclusion of our hike. Unexpectedly the sun emerged and the clouds began to part revealing parts of Mt. McKinley.

This was our first view of Mt. McKinley. The "foothills" are upwards of 6000 ft tall, at 20,300 ft, Mt. McKinley dominated the horizon. Needless to say, after a couple days of rain and low visibility, we were all excited.

Mt. McKinley slowly emerged from the clouds and by the time we reached our camp it was mostly visible.

A room with a view.

We relish in the sunshine and take the opportunity for a photo in from of McKinley.

A telephoto shot of the peak.
