Jay Cook State Park

Summer finally arrived and we took the opportunity to get outside and enjoy it at Jay Cook State Park.
A view of the Minnesota Power Reservoir, just outside of the park.
Hwy 213 through the Park. They recently repaved it making an excellent motorcycling road.
Truss over the St. Louis River, just downstream of the dam.
Truss Bridge II.
A view from the swing bridge at Jay Cook. Water is running high this time of year.

George Crosby Manitou State Park

In early June Sara and I joined some friends for a last minute weekend camping trip to the George Manitou State Park, located along the north shore of Lake Superior. This was also our first trip with our new wide angle lens.
The new 16-35mm at work.

We received some heavy rains the week prior. In fact some of the local highways were washed out the day before we hit the trial. Here the Manitou River floods its banks.

Another shot of the Manitou River at high water.

A small stream feeding the Manitou.

Sara poses on a cedar tree alongside the river.

Our evening fire.

Sunset on the Dock

In late May we were invited to a friends birthday party at his families cabin. The following are a few shots of the sunset we fortunate enough to witness.
Kids on the dock.

Dock deserted.
Dock revisted.

Munger Trail

Just south of Cloquet there is of course Jay Cook State Park where we spend a great deal of our time. Running through the State Park is the Munger Trail which starts in Duluth, and travels south approximately 70 miles to Hinkley, MN.

Some wild flowers along the trail.

Pat alongside the trail at the highwall approximately halfway between Cloquet and Duluth.

A look back along the trail. On our return trip we jumped a wolf along the trail. She, or he, stopped just long enough for us to get a great look, but unfortunately no pictures.
