Waterton to Banff

The guys awoke very early the next morning to hike to Bertha Lake for a sunrise view.

The hike uphill 3 miles was apparently worth it considering the view. It is easy for me to say that of course because Christina & I were still sleeping while the guys were hiking!

Pat used an orange filter to help bring out some of the sunrise color.

More color.

Now without the orange filter.

The trail to/from Bertha Lake offered nice views of the Waterton Lakes.

The sideways 'hook' on this waterfall along the Bertha Lake trail was pretty neat.

A panoramic view of the town of Waterton from the Bertha Lake trail. If you look closely, you can see the Prince William Hotel just to the right of the center of the photo.

Pat & Quent ran into a few 'friends' along the trail on the way back down to the campground.

Upon the guys arrival back to the campground, Christina and I were ready to set out for Banff. Just north of Waterton, we ran into the familiar sight of haybales.

It seems that others have also noticed the windy conditions in Waterton as there were several wind turbines just north of town.

There were several windfarms. It seemed funny to have mountains in the background since I usually think of windfarms in flat places like the Dakotas, Iowa, Indiana, and Illinois.

Our math skills were tested converting kilometers to miles to figure out how far we had to go to the next town. Crazy Canadians and their metric units.....

The views of the Rockies were beautiful the whole trip.

Our last view of the day prior to the sun setting was of the Three Sisters Mountains (three mountains just right of center) in Canmore, just south of Banff. I took this photo from the McDonalds parking lot. Not too shabby of a view for a McD's!
